Placement gives recommendations for courses in math, English and English as a second language (ESL). This will determine where you start in the sequence of courses and how long it will take to complete them to get your degree or transfer. A new law in California (AB 705) has made transfer level math and English courses accessible in your first year. For more information on AB 705 please visit here.
All English and math placement will be done through WebAdvisor via a questionnaire. In order to fill out the questionnaire you will need knowledge of your High School GPA, highest completed High School math course, and intended major of study. ESL students will be also required to fill out the questionnaire, if an appointment is needed you will be referred to do so on your results page. If needed, watch a video to learn how to use WebAdvisor.
To access the assessment/placement questionnaire:
Many students who are looking to graduate with an local (associate) degree may have met this requirement with the placement questionnaire. Visit the counseling office or submit a question online to ask a counselor if you have met this requirement.
If you already took the assessment via the Accuplacer test at Cuyamaca College, please follow the directions above to reassess with the questionnaire. If you would like to challenge your placement level after you have completed the placement questionnaire please contact the Department Chair of either Math, English or ESL. You may also contact the Assessment Office at cuyamaca.assessment@gcccd.edu for more information. Only assessments given by the Cuyamaca College Assessment Office are acceptable for this purpose.
At this time, the chemistry challenge for direct enrollment to Chem 141 is not being administered. Please submit a request for consideration via the Prerequisite Challenge Form and include any relevant information to support your request.
